“TAHUM”
For Arts Month, we are delighted to announce the inaugural youth initiative art competition “TAHUM” with the theme “The Beauty of Dimiao.” The event will support local artists aged 15 and older and exclusive for Dimiao Artist Residents, offering cash prizes for winners and participants. Those who pass the preliminary round will have the opportunity to attend an art workshop our guest speaker. Additionally, the art will be featured in a town magazine later this year. Below are the details of the event.
What the Event Is About:
Art serves as a medium to capture diverse cultures and promote human expression, fostering social connections and unique perspectives on social and community issues. To preserve the identity of Dimiao and showcase local artists, the MSWDO is supporting the first youth initiative art competition with assistance from Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons. This competition will feature paintings and photography of landscapes and culture to develop the art skills among youth and other artists of Dimiao.

Painting Details:
Preliminary Contest on Painting:
– Requirements for joining the initial contest:
– 1 piece of original artwork; the artist is free to submit any previously made painting.
– Must be an acrylic or oil painting.
– The top 20 finalists chosen during the preliminary submission will move to the final round.
Submission:
– Deadline: 2/15/24 at 10 am.
– Submit a picture via email to mswdodimiao@gmail.com (High-quality photo recommended).
– Include: Name, Age, Address, and Phone number.
– Results will be announced at the end of the day by email.
Contest Proper – Painting Finals:
– Submission: March 15, 2024.
– Submit to: LGU Municipal hall by or before the submission date.
Requirements: Follow the guidelines and criteria for judging as follows:
– After the confirmation through email artists can start making their art piece and submit on the submission date and place.
– Canvas size: 16″ x 20″.
– The painting must be an original work of art.
– Painting can be landscape or portrait.
– Must use acrylic or oil paints.
– Represent the beauty of Dimiao (culture, landscape, community, etc.).
– Artists will provide their own arts materials (canvas, paint and etc.)
– All artworks submitted after the contest proper will be owned by the organizers.
Contest Proper – Photography Details and Guidelines:
– Top 10 photographs will be chosen (1 submission per participant).
– Submit by email to: mswdodimiao@gmail.com by March 10th, 2024.
– Include: Name, Age, Address, Phone number, and title of the work.
– The photograph must be an original work of art.
– Photograph must be submitted in JPEG format with at least 300 dpi and a maximum file size of 10MB (can be taken using a smartphone or DSLR).
– Photograph can be landscape or portrait and feature Dimiao (culture, landscape, community, etc.).
– All photographs submitted will be owned by the organizers.
Art Workshop Celebration:
– Guest speaker: Elvin Vitor
– Judges: Mayor Randolph Ang, Janssen Bantugan, Elvin Vitor
– Featured art, food, and activities.
Cash Prizes:
Painting:
– 1st place: 8,000.00
– 2nd place: 6,000.00
– 3rd place: 5,000.00
– Consolation: 1,000.00 for the remaining 17 participants who made it to the final 20
Photography:
– 1st place: 5,000.00
– 2nd place: 4,000.00
– 3rd place: 3,000.00
– Consolation: 1,000.00 for the remaining 7 participants who made it to the top 10

– Interpretation and clarity of the theme to the viewer: 20%
– Creativity and originality of the depicted theme: 20%
– Quality: 30%
– Overall impression of the art: 30%
